This research may cover such aspects as the perception of local communities on Nigerian military and counterinsurgency operations, human rights implications of military actions and civil-military relations or trust between civilian volunteers and armed forces. Recognizing the tension that exists between national security and citizens' rights, this article discusses some of the core issues — military deployments to civilian areas with a focus on deaths of civilians, internal displacement of civilians, arbitrary arrests and several other allegations surrounding these violations of human rights. This paper reflects perspectives from various stakeholders — local civilians, internally displaced persons (IDPs), human rights organizations and armed forces personnel. It is inarguable that military presence is needed for security, yet there are fears over the heavy-handed elements of UNSCR 1973 which often increase civilian suffering. This paper adopts a form-oriented theory of structural functionalism, which suggested that social phenomena belong to a domain – or level – of existence separate from psychical and biological facts using qualitative approach. From this perspective, the paper concludes its discussion by contributing to our understanding of the broader consequences of civil-military relations in zones of armed substitute and develop brazen intercontinental policy reform that promotes human right, accountability and community involvement. It is a new way of planning military operations; one that recognizes that while there are legitimate security needs, it should not come at the expense of providing citizens with their fundamental rights and freedoms, creating opportunities for better trust and collaboration between communities in northeastern Nigeria and the state.
Maryam Gidado Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Global Social Sciences 2024-11-24 2024-11-24 5 20 1 19 10.58934/jgss.v5i20.295 The role of leadership in promoting innovation within organizations in public sector https://journalsglobal.com/index.php/jgss/article/view/296
This study investigates the relationship between Knowledge Sharing, Person-Organization Fit (P-O Fit), and Innovative Work Behaviors (IWB) in public organizations in Iraq. It examines how the alignment between individual attributes and organizational culture affects employees' commitment to innovative work behaviors. Data were collected from 410 employees in public institutions, with surveys available in Kurdish and English. Findings indicate that information sharing enhances P-O Fit and promotes innovative work behaviors, both essential for organizational adaptability and growth. The study underscores the importance of fostering a collaborative environment to strengthen organizational cohesion. Organizations with strong P-O Fit are better positioned to retain talent and encourage creativity. Recommendations include refining recruitment and training processes to align with organizational culture, implementing programs to support development, and regularly evaluating knowledge-sharing practices. This analysis advances the theoretical understanding of how P-O Fit and knowledge exchange drive progress in the public sector and offers valuable insights for leaders.
Shaista Husen Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Global Social Sciences 2024-11-24 2024-11-24 5 20 20 42 10.58934/jgss.v5i20.296 Oil sector revenue, macroeconomic variables and economic growth in Nigeria https://journalsglobal.com/index.php/jgss/article/view/302
The challenges in oil sector revenue are so enormous that can overwhelm macroeconomic variables thereby reducing their potentials of contributing to the gross domestic product and reduce the rate of unemployment. The inability to create value is the major problem which oil sector revenue are faced with in today’s dynamic economic environment. This study investigated the influence of the oil sector revenue and macroeconomic variables on gross domestic product, Nigeria. The Dynamic Capability View Theory was used to underpin the study. The study employed a time series through secondary data. Unit root test and Multiple Regression were utilised for data analysis. The findings revealed that oil sector revenue contributed negatively to growth and development process of Nigeria which is not as expected, because unit increase in oil sector revenue has negative effect on economic growth to the tune of 6%. The macroeconomic variables interest rate show negative interest on GDP as expected but government expenditure too shows negative effect on GDP as against expectation. Thus, it was recommended that government should develop alternative source of income because too much reliance on oil to the neglect of other source of revenue is harmful to the economy. Other sector of the economy can as well be functional properly through diversification of resources.
J. A. Adeyokunnu S.A. This study looks into dynamic relationship between small and medium scale enterprises and unemployment with special reference to Lagos State. The study employed a cross sectional research design, while a multi-stage sampling technique was used for the study, approximately 382 was sample size but 500 copies of the questionnaire were distributed, 432 were returned and 424 found usable. Multiple Regression was utilised for data analysis. The findings revealed that to achieve a full employment rate, the government should try to put more and likely pressure on the mass in the creation of more SMEs, which could increase the Gross Domestic Product of the economy. The study concludes that there are positive and significant relationship between the variables and their dimensions.

Keywords: , ,
                  .
S.A.
